NATURE’S FINEST MARKETPLACE…

For two days in early February, Vero Beach’s Riverside Park transforms into one of the largest free and family-friendly garden shows in Florida, Gardenfest! Visitors come from far and wide to stroll under the oaks and enjoy the amazing vendors, lectures, demonstrations, food and raffle prizes. Many arrive with their wagons in tow, ready for the treasures they will find.

Once again, it’s time to get your wagons ready! Gardenfest! returns February 2nd & 3rd, 2019.

Gardenfest! – Nature’s Finest Marketplace is hosted by the Garden Club of Indian River County and celebrates everything garden. Gardenfest! chairmen spend the summer scouring the south to bring together the highest quality vendors. This year over 85 vendors have been hand-selected assuring an incredible selection of plants and garden accessories.

At Gardenfest! plants for sale include palms, ferns, orchids, bromeliads, Florida natives, herbs, succulents, bamboo, fruit trees, bonsai, roses and geraniums. There are also planters, pottery, fountains, furniture, lighting, statuary and other garden accessories.

In addition, the crowd favorite, “Ask the Experts,” returns each day with free lectures, demonstrations and Q & A sessions all led by local authorities.
When it’s time to take a break, rest under the oaks and enjoy fabulous food vendors, including a Vero Beach favorite, 14 Bones. There are activities for the younger gardener too, and don’t forget tickets for the wonderful raffle prizes. From golf packages, to restaurant and theatre, entertainment, spa treatments, jewelry, art work – there’s a package for everyone.

Proceeds from Gardenfest! help fund the club’s community outreach programs aimed at enhancing, preserving and beautifying the landscape of Indian River County.

Garden enthusiasts of all levels look forward to experiencing Vero’s premier annual gardening event, Nature’s Finest Marketplace – Gardenfest!

Free Admission and parking. Rain or shine.
And don’t forget your wagon!

NATURE’S FINEST MARKETPLACE…

The 15th annual Gardenfest! was held in Riverside Park, Vero Beach with 90 vendors, 8 non-profit organizations and 8 Blue Ribbon sponsors greeting over 20,000 visitors. Saturday, February 6 was a beautiful day with large crowds causing traffic to back-up the Barber Bridge and in the large grass parking lots. Rains returned Saturday night after saturating the area about 1 ½ weeks ago so, for the first time in 15 years, there was standing water in the park on Sunday, February 7. Vendors were moved, walkways covered, mulch spread but the show went on. People cheered late morning when the sun came out and crowds appeared on this sunny, cold day.

It was a beautiful shopping event with plants, planters, pottery, fountains, furniture, patio designs, lighting, statuary and other garden accessories. Plants for sale included palms, ferns, orchids, bromeliads, Florida natives, herbs, succulents, bamboo and roses. Gardenfest! continues as the horticulturist's weekend resource and garden shopper's Mecca.

Fans of the horticulture arena visited Gardenfest! for the interesting "Ask The Expert" question and answer sessions each day facilitated by top-notch authorities in their fields. Our experts for 2016 were:

• "Caring for Your Orchids" with John Odom of Odom's Orchids, Inc.
• "Herbs, Garden To Table" with Dennis Gretton of D&D Growers
• "Garden Pollinators" with Shari Blisset-Clark of the Florida Bat Conservancy/Bat Belfrys
• "Shade Gardening" with Kathy Roberts of Central Florida Ferns
• "Caladiums" with Merry Savoy of Fancy Leaf Caladiums
• "Florida Natives" with Janice Broda of the Florida Native Plant Society- Eugenia Chapter
• "The History, Benefits and Uses of Old Growth Cypress Wood" with Dee and Jesse Vance of Nature's Relics
• "All About Orchids" with Paul Price of the Treasure Coast Orchid Society
